Hey, summer’s almost here…
In spite of two weeks of rain and chilly temperatures which have made some Vancouverites rename this month “Junuary“, there are still some obvious signs that the summer break is really just around the corner. The school picnic, my son’s track and field meets, half-day fun-day have come and gone. My son can feel it as he works on his final school project: a diorama of penguins. I can feel it as I work in my studio, with finches chirping outside my window.
It means that I will have to find ways to occupy my son that don’t include a computer or tv screen. It means that I will start to think about our summer vacation and camping trips. It means that everything is soon going to sloooow dooooown to the pace of long summer days.
In mid July, my family is heading to Italy for a family get-together (15 of us under one roof for two weeks – hooowee) and a celebration of my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday (che bello!) . That’s only a few weeks away…I can’t wait!
What are your plans for the summer?
